Community Connections

Here at CC Shepherd’s we strongly believe that what holds us together during trying times is our sense of community. Below are just some of the organizations in Weymouth and the surrounding area that we work with and support. We encourage you to check out some of these organizations, and consider getting involved just as we do!

South Shore Hospital

“CC Shepherd Funeral Home has provided their unwavering support and compassion in assisting South Shore Hospital with the often invisible, yet highly significant issue of burying unclaimed and indigent decedents. Their commitment to helping us ensure that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, receives a dignified and respectful farewell is truly commendable. Their assistance with these difficult situations exemplifies the highest standards of integrity and compassion in the funeral industry, and for that, we are extremely grateful.”

– Matthew A. Mazzuchelli, Decedent Affairs Coordinator, South Shore Health

Cal Ripken

“C.C Shepherd Funeral Home has been a long time supporter of Weymouth Cal Ripken Baseball and of

the youth of Weymouth. They’re generous donations in the form of team/banner sponsorships allows us

to keep the cost of registration fees down each year for the families of Weymouth. They are always one

of the first sponsors that submit sponsorship each season. Working with them over the years has been a

true pleasure and is greatly appreciated by all in WCRB!!”

Makayla Fund

CC Shepherds graciously donates to and supports The Makayla Fund’s annual golf outing each September to help support suicide prevention and raise awareness to the cause.

The mission of the Makayla Guerriero Memorial Fund is to prevent teen suicide in Makayla's memory through public awareness and education, reduce the stigma, and serve as a resource for those touched by suicide. We also want to help improve the life of local teens with our sports scholarship program by giving the necessary funds to play a sport if one cannot afford it.

Mini Golf for a Big Cause

The money that Shepherds Funeral home and the patrons of the Ninety-Nine raise each year is crucial to Dana Farber, this money is Unrestricted funds. What this means is it is not a grant that can only go to a specific form of research. If a lab or program is close to a discovery and in need of funds Dana Farber can just allocate this money directly to them with no wait and no restrictions. With the help of all our vendors and friends that have partnered with the Ninety-Nine we have raised over $6,000,000 dollars for Dana Farber Cancer research.

Weymouth-Braintree Elks

“Garret McDonald has been a member with the Elks for 11 years. He has been very supportive of our Annual Memorial service. This is when Elks Lodges across the country honor the members that have passed during the year.

His father and uncles began what has now passed on to Garret, a tradition of setting up the altar for this event. It began long before I was an Elk. (which I have been for 26 years). His father and uncles would come to the Lodge, very early in the morning and set up the most beautiful alter for this service, with plaques, flowers, candles and altar cards. The way that Garret got started with this was they asked him to come and help with the setting up. Garret arrived in a suit and tie, while they were all in jeans. (He has a picture). It was the last set up that his father and uncles did at the Lodge, and he has carried on the tradition.

I have been the chairperson of this service for 12 years. When we sold our Lodge building 3 years ago, I went to Garret and asked if we could use CC Shepherd for our service. I stated it was only going to be for 1 year because we would have a new building the first of the following year. He was excited with the idea and ran with it. He did the setup the altar, did the flowers and the altar cards. It was beautiful! When he puts his hand to something it seems to always turn out beautiful. We have done this service going into our 3rd year coming up this December, and I have had so many positive comments. When I reached out to Garret about this years' service, he said absolutely.

I consider Garret a very good friend and a wonderful Elk. He, Tim, and Rachel have embraced this service and have been there for me- -even when I have gotten panicky- -it has always been perfect. I could go on and on because I just feel so lucky to have found Garret and his passion for this type of service.

I personally recommend the Funeral home to anyone who wants a place where they will be treated with dignity and respect during a most difficult time. I do this because I know that Garret and his staff will take the best care of them.”
