Winifred "Winnie" Alice Knight (Caldwell) of Blue Fish Cove (Marshfield), Massachusetts, passed away surrounded by loved ones at age 94 on January 17, 2024. Winnie was born and raised by Mildred (Walsh) and Herbert Caldwell of Weymouth, MA, where she graduated high school and married her first husband, John Conner. The couple started a family of four children together in Abington, MA. John sadly passed away in 1972. Winnie eventually found love again with Luke Knight and married him in 1983. Winnie had many loving years with Luke in their shanty by the sea, a special place she shared with family and friends who have all come to cherish their memories of happy days spent on the shore.
Winnie worked for over thirty years as a waitress at Vin and Eddie's in Abington where she formed many lifelong friendships. Winnie's two greatest loves in life were the ocean, where she spent the summers of her childhood at Green Harbor, and spending time with her family. They spent summer days on her and Luke's boat "Winnie Pooh", and loved to walk the beach together in search of shells and seaglass in the Cove and on Sanibel Island. Anyone close to Winnie knew that she cooked the best fried dough around. She was also a member of the Abington Bowling League, the Strawberry Valley Golf League, and the Red Hat Society. She later would enjoy volunteering at the Marshfield Senior Center. Winnie was a friend to everyone she met. Her devotion to family was remarkable, her strength and affection will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.
Winnie is predeceased by her first husband, John F. Conner, and her second husband, Luke Knight. She is survived by her loving children, Donna Loomis of Marshfield, Doreen Reilly and her husband Sean of Kingston. Winnie was predeceased by her children, John M. Conner and Deborah Hall. She is forever loved by her ten grandchildren, John, Kristin, Christopher, Kasey, Jesse Lee, Joseph, Conner, Shannon, Tyler and Brian. She was predeceased by her grandchildren Erin and Derek Hall. Winnie will be missed by her sixteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren, as well as her many nieces and nephews. Winnie is survived by her brother, Bruce Caldwell, and was predeceased by her siblings, Herbert, George, Joseph Caldwell and Mildred (Millie) Sloane. She will be missed by all, and to conclude with Winnie's trademark farewell, God Bless!
