William Murphy of Malden passed away on December 25, 2022 at the young age of 63. William was raised and educated in Hingham and prior to his high school graduation left to join the United States Army. While in the army he completed his high school education and served his country for one and a half years. Once back stateside William joined the workforce as a union laborer and started his family.
William had a wide array of talents and hobbies. He enjoyed different types of art including painting, sculpting, playing instruments and making small military models and dioramas. William could also be found riding his Harley motorcycle or out with his metal detector. Above all else William loved spending time with friends and family especially his grandson.
William was the son of the late James Murphy and his mother June Murphy of Weymouth. He was the father of Bill Murphy and his wife Caitlin Sherlock-Murphy of Plainville, Bonnie Murphy and her fiance Paul Lentini of Kingston and Lyndsie Murphy and her significant other Joseph Sylvester of Avon. William was the cherished grandfather of Gabriel Murphy. He also leaves behind his siblings Lorraine Wannebo, Raymond Murphy, Daniel Murphy and Vincent Murphy.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for William on Thursday January 5, 2023 from 4-6 PM in the CC Shepherd Funeral Home (134 Pleasant St. Weymouth). In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans at DAV.org
