Thomas William Drummy

October 23, 1949 — April 16, 2024

Duxbury

Tom Drummy of Duxbury “moved on” as he would say on April 16, 2024. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and the many people he came in contact with.

“As long as we remember a person, they’re not really gone. Their thoughts, their feelings, their memories, they become part of us.”

Thomas William Drummy was born in Newton, MA on 10/23/1949. He grew up in Wellesley, MA and graduated from Boston University in 1971 with a BSBA. He went on to graduate from Babson College in 1973 with an MBA. He leaves behind a wife, Teryl, and three children, Christine, Tommy, and Catherine. Dad was an entrepreneur at heart. He bought and operated the Sealord Motel on Cape Cod for 25 years. As he called it, a “Mom and Pop” operation. This is where he and Teryl’s love for one another blossomed. After many years, Tom and family, now a wife and three children, moved to Duxbury. Tom began a new career and was involved with the Duxbury School System in several different capacities over the last twenty plus years. A career he truly loved, and it loved him back. His goal was to make sure every student had a good day and felt respected walking into school. You could catch him giving out high fives as kids flooded into the building each morning.

He absolutely loved spending time with his best friend and wife, Teryl. Regularly referencing how lucky he was to have such a beautiful, hardworking partner by his side. He was most proud of his children. As he often remarked, “I’m a millionaire when it comes to family”. He always looked forward to college hockey nights with his eldest daughter, Christine… she was his “sports babe” as he called her. Catherine, as the youngest, was always “Daddy’s little princess”. Dad enjoyed travel, especially the National Parks, both in the US and Canada. Every year, he and his son Tommy took a hiking and bonding adventure… creating endless laughs and memories they often recalled. Dad was an avid hiker, biker, kayaker and always looking for new places to explore. He could and would engage anyone in a conversation, quickly establishing a rapport. Always reminding us of his goal to make a new friend every day. “Mr. Drummy’s” legacy will remain as he moves on.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11AM on April 27, 2024 at the Holy Family Church located at 601 Tremont St. Duxbury, MA 02332. Reception to follow at Tarkiln Community Center located at 245 Summer St. Duxbury, MA 02332.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the “Mr. Drummy” Scholarship Fund (https://gofund.me/60325b66). This annual scholarship will be given to a graduating student at Duxbury High School who has embodied the characteristics that “Mr. Drummy” tried to instill in us all: Be a good friend to all and take nothing for granted.

The Drummy family appreciates all the thoughts and prayers sent their way. Your love and friendship mean so much and continues to be a blessing during these difficult days. Remembrance notes may be sent to The Drummy Family at 11 Wright Lane, Duxbury MA 02332.
