Therese Josephine Keohane, age 98, of Weymouth, passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2025. She was born on April 29, 1926, to become the middle child of five girls. She was raised and educated in Roxbury before moving to Weymouth in 2000.
While dressed for any occasion, Therese embraced life by experiencing all she could. She cultivated a love for theatre, museums, and the Boston Pops. In addition to Boston, she explored New York City, London, Dublin, and more. It seemed the only time she sat still was when she was tanning on a South Shore Beach. In retirement, she enjoyed programs at the Whipple Senior Center and classes at UMass Boston.
Having no children of her own, Therese truly embodied the “fun aunt” who showed great care to her many nieces and nephews - and later in life, her grand nieces and nephews. Through her, many can say they’ve learned the joy of a Boston garden and theatrical performance, the value of a good outfit and haircut, the importance of grammar, and the delicious combination of Ginger Ale and cranberry juice.
Therese loved celebrating those moments with a great laugh and a disposable camera. She was impressively able to look through those photos decades later and tell the who, what, and when of the memory before passing the photo on in one of her famous cards.
Therese was predeceased by her beloved sisters Margaret O’Donnell, Eleanor Sullivan, Geraldine Burns, and Elizabeth Sullivan. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and their growing families.
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation for Therese on Saturday, February 8, from 9-10:30 am at the CC Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St Weymouth, MA, in Columbian Square. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:30 am in the Immaculate Conception Church on Broad Street in East Weymouth.
The family would like to offer thanks for the wonderful help Old Colony Hospice and Alliance Health offered to Therese over the past few months. Donations may be made in memory of Therese to Old Colony Hospice at 321 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA.
