Susetta R. Harrington

June 10, 1941 — June 18, 2024

Whitman

Susetta (Sue) Ruth Harrington (Felcher) beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away at age 83 on June 18th, 2024, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Sue was born in Staten Island, NY on June 10th, 1941, to William Walter Felcher and Eva Pearl Felcher. She graduated from East Windsor High School in 1959 and attended Providence Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1962.

Sue was the cherished wife of the late Joseph E. (Sonny) Harrington Jr, her husband of 48 years. In 1963, they married and bought a house in Weymouth, MA, where they raised four children together. She began her nursing career working at Boston City Hospital in the obstetrics department. In 1973, she was hired by the South Shore Hospital obstetrics department and was soon transferred to the maternity floor where she was promoted to nurse manager. She eventually worked in the nursing office until her retirement in 2001. Along with her husband, they enjoyed retirement in their home in Naples, Florida. In 2021, Sue returned to MA to live surrounded by her family and friends.

Sue was not one to sit idle. When she wasn’t working at the hospital, she was whipping up her family's favorite meals, tending to her garden, painting ceramics, and watching her beloved Red Sox. Throughout the years, she often hosted backyard BBQ’s by the pool with card games that lasted long into the night. She was an avid reader and in her later years she developed a love for jigsaw puzzles, cribbage, Singo and Family Feud. Her favorite times of year were the holidays and celebrations, when she would host big parties which always included food, fun and laughter. Most of all, she was happiest when she was spending time with her grandchildren.

Sue was preceded by her husband, Joseph E. Harrington Jr. and their youngest son, Jon Harrington. She is survived by three of her children, Joseph W. Harrington of Taunton, Eileen (Harrington) Gonzalez of Whitman, and Jeffrey Harrington of Weymouth. She leaves behind her beloved 13 grandchildren: Nicole, Joseph, Adam, Amanda, Emily, Sarah, Matthew, Jared, Athena, Sabina, Taliana, Signey (Coco) and Juan Daniel. Sue is survived by her brother Michael Felcher, her sister Roberta Guertin, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Sue on Monday, June 24, 2024, from 4-6pm, in the CC Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant St (Columbian Sq.)
