Shawn Patrick Lydon, 54, passed suddenly on July 24, 2023. Shawn was born in Boston, raised and educated in Quincy, graduating from Quincy VoTech in 1986. After high school, Shawn entered the United States Navy and was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia, where he worked as a hull technician.
Shawn was a loyal New England sports fan, he loved watching the Patriots and the Bruins. He was very proud of his Irish heritage, often attending Irish music shows and festivals. His favorite vacation was to Ireland with his father and brother. Some of Shawn's fondest memories were of his family trips to Ellis- Haven Campground in Plymouth and to the Belgrade Lakes of Maine. Shawn was known for his knowledge of history and politics, he could talk about both topics at length and was also an incredible listener. He was talented when it came to working with his hands and worked side by side with his son Patrick on many projects. In recent years Shawn enjoyed his time on the Island of St. Thomas enjoying the weather and localities.
Shawn is survived by his son, Patrick Lydon of Weymouth. He is also survived by his siblings, Kelly Lydon of Cohasset, Lynne Lydon of Berlin, New Hampshire, William Lydon of Quincy and Janice and Tom Hawes of Quincy. Shawn was also loved by his nieces and nephews.
Services for Shawn will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the New England Center and Home for Veterans.
