Russell Harvey Kent passed away in the presence of his wife and daughter after a long battle with cancer at the age of 73 on October 28, 2022. A longtime resident of both Weymouth and Holbrook, MA, he was the son of the late Dorothy L. Kent (Russell) and Arthur H. Kent Sr. and grew up with his 4 siblings. He was a 1967 graduate of Weymouth Vocational High School and a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Russell worked for General Dynamics for the Quincy shipbuilding division and managed a food cart at Thomson Financial which was a precursor to current day food trucks. He eventually retired in 2014 when he worked for Allstate Waste.
Russell loved the outdoors. He was an avid camper and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson. Many weekends were spent riding with his fellow members of the “Getting Lost” biker club and many Bike Weeks in Laconia, NH. He was a big fan of “spaghetti westerns” and could answer almost every question while watching Jeopardy! He was a man full of vast information even before Cliff Clavin existed. Russell also had a talent to fix anything, even if it was only with a rubber band. Most of all Russell loved spending time with family and friends. He was content to be at home and was always welcoming to anyone who visited.
Russell is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Karen M. Kent, daughter Leslie M. Silvia and her husband Steven Silvia, beloved grandsons Steven Kent Silvia and Shawn Russell Silvia all of Holbrook, MA. Siblings Arthur (“Buzzy”) Kent, Jr and his wife Marie of Groveland, MA; Judith Pellegrini of Aurora, TX, and her late husband Ronald; Carol Donovan and her husband Harold (“Dunnie”) of Hanover, MA and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother Kenneth Kent.
A Celebration of Life will take place early 2023. Friends and Family are welcome to attend and will be contacted with event information. Donations in Russell’s memory may be made to the South Shore Hospital in appreciation of the wonderful caretakers there.
The entire Kent family sends their heartfelt thanks to all who have reached out during this time of sadness.
