Ruby E. Davies

Ruby E. Davies (Greene), age 88, of Braintree, passed away on Thursday August 15, 2024 with her family by her side. Ruby was the daughter of the late James and Jennipher (Prime) Greene. Ruby was the devoted wife of the late Arthur Davies, her beloved husband of 61 years, Ruby and Arthur met in the first grade. Their love and family grew over the years as she was the devoted mother to Arthur Davies Jr. and his wife Beth of Medfield, Douglas Davies and his wife Kathie of Holbrook, Brenda Ripley and her husband Eric of Weymouth and Cindy Keane and her husband Bill of Braintree. Her loving grand and great grandchildren brought such joy, Kyle, Kate, Valerie, Alex his wife Martha and daughter Nora, Jenny, Billy, Hannah and her husband Shane and daughter Maggie and Lilly, predeceased by the late Sarah Davies. 

Ruby was the youngest child predeceased by her lovely sister Beulah Bradeen and her big brothers Herman Greene and Kenneth Greene (died in WWII). Ruby will be fondly remembered by her Greene and Davies extended family. She was Aunt Ruby to many and friends with all. 

Ruby was a lifelong East Braintree resident, a proud 1953 graduate of Braintree High School. Ruby then worked in administration for Howard Johnson. Her greatest love was raising her family, and during that time she also supported children in Braintree as a school crossing guard. She later returned to administrative positions, in which Ruby enjoyed socializing as much as the challenging work. 

She had a zest for life that was evident in her many interests. She was a very active member of the Union Congregational Church, loved camping, beaching, rug hooking, walking the neighborhood and most of all loved travelling with Arthur. Some of her greatest family memories took place at the annual family gathering in Ogunquit, Maine. She loved to be on the water, including boating aboard her namesake, the Ruby Doo. Traveling near or far was always an adventure. When she was not on the go, she was always happy in her comfortable home with her family and pets always by her side. Ruby will be remembered by her thoughtful nature, her joyous laugh and unwavering dedication to those she loved most. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Ruby on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 9-11am, at the CC Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant St (Columbian Sq.) South Weymouth. At 11:30am, also on Tuesday, a funeral service will be held at the Union Congregational Church 74 Commercial Street, Braintree. A burial will follow at the Village Cemetery in Weymouth.
