Robert Emmett O'Loughlin

            Robert E. O’Loughlin, age 90, of Weymouth passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 25, 2023, surrounded by his family. Bob was born, raised, and educated in the Savin Hill neighborhood in Dorchester, St. William’s Parish. He married his wife of 67 Years, Eugenia, in 1956. They eventually settled in Braintree where they raised their family.  After retirement, Bob and Genie lived in Falmouth for twenty years before moving to Rockland.  Bob graduated from Northeastern University and received a master’s degree from Siena College.

Bob loved people, never forgot a name or a face and took a sincere interest in each person's story.  He was a man of great faith and depended upon God for his strength. Bob and Genie lived a genuine love story. They were blessed to travel the world together. They volunteered at both Falmouth and South Shore Hospitals until a few years ago. Bob coached his children's hockey, baseball and softball teams in Braintree. He also enjoyed watching his children's and grandchildren's special events.  He loved singing, especially barbershop singing with the South Shore Men of Harmony, the Cape Cod Surftones, and the St. Anthony and Sacred Heart Church choirs. Bob treasured family; including his extended family of 26 O'Loughlin nieces and nephews and his lifelong friends.

            Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife Eugenia “Genie” O’Loughlin (Dowd) and his two daughters Catherine and Ann. He is survived by his children Mary Beth Brady and her husband John of Weymouth, Erin O’Loughlin and her husband Mark Klobucher of Nashua, NH, Robert O’Loughlin and his wife Kathleen of Raynham, and Kevin O’Loughlin and his wife Kristine of Hopedale, his grandchildren Moira, Caitlin, Michael, Kelly, John, Patrick, Sean, Thomas, Catherine, Elise, Kayla, and Jack, and his 12 great-grandchildren.

            Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Bob on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 4-7 PM in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home Friday Morning at 9 AM for a Celebration of Life prior to the Funeral Mass for the repose of his soul, which will take place at 10 AM at Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth. Burial will immediately follow the mass at Plain Street Cemetery in Braintree. If you choose, donations may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish at Sacred Heart Church, 55 Commercial St., Weymouth.
