Robert "Bob" H. Barry, aged 96, of Weymouth, passed away on October 4, 2023. Bob was born in Boston on September 20, 1927 to the late Beatrice Barry (Negrotti) and Henry Ellis Barry. He was the brother of the late Muriel Kizelewicz (Barry) and husband Benedict.
Bob was raised and educated in South Boston and Dorchester. He was a graduate of Boston English High School, class of 1945. While in high school, he lettered in football, hockey and baseball. After high school, he went on to graduate from Burdett Business School and Bentley University. Bob proudly served in the United States Army. He was a World War II veteran and participated in Operation Crossroads. For his service, Bob received a World War II victory medal and a Pacific Theatre Ribbon. Bob worked for many years as a marketing representative for petroleum companies. In his free time he enjoyed watching and participating in all sorts of sporting activities. He coached hockey and pop warner football.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife of sixty five years, Margaret Barry (Armstrong) of Weymouth and Glasgow, Scotland. He is also survived by his loving children Ann Marie Barry, of Natick, Dianne Barry, of Natick, and Robert Ellis Barry and his wife, Laura, of Plymouth. He was also loved by his grandchildren, Robert William Barry and Christopher Ellis Barry, and many nieces and nephews from the South Shore, Atlanta Georgia, New York and Scotland.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Bob, on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 9AM, in the CC Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant St (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10AM in the Saint Albert the Great Church in Weymouth. Private burial to be held at the National Cemetery in Bourne. The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the nurses of South Shore Hospital and of Southwood in Norwell. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob's name to Saint Jude and to Autism Speaks using the links provided on this page.
