Richard H. McDonald

South Boston

Richard H. McDonald, age 81, of South Boston, passed after a courageous battle with cancer. Richard most recently lived in South Weymouth with his brother and sister in-law, Kenneth and Louise McDonald, during his illness and treatment. 

Richard was a lifelong resident of "Southie" and until recently, enjoyed his walks along the beach and meeting up with friends and neighbors for spirited discussions. He was able to enjoy his last months surrounded by his family, especially his nieces and great nieces and nephews. He was a very important part of their lives and loved dearly. Richard was also blessed with lifelong friends and neighbors who were always there to support him when needed. He will be missed dearly.

Richard is predeceased by his parents, William and Edith (Baker) McDonald and his brother, William McDonald. He is survived by his brother, Kenneth McDonald and his wife, Louise of South Weymouth. Richard was also loved by his nieces, great nieces, nephews and many friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Richard on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, from2-3pm, at the CC Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant St (Columbian Sq.) South Weymouth. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 3pm in the funeral home. Burial will be on Monday, July 1, 2024, at 10am, at New Cavalry Cemetery in Boston.
