Paul A. Warren, 96, of Weymouth, MA, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2023. Paul was born in Malden, MA and raised throughout New England and graduated from Somerville High School in 1944. He then proudly served his country in the US Army from 1944 to 1946 during World War II. After his service in the Army he attended the New England Conservatory of Music earning a BA in Music . He moved to Weymouth in 1954 and met his beloved wife, Janet, in 1965 and the two settled in Weymouth to raise their loving family.
Paul adored music and it was proudly his life’s work. He was the Supervisor of Music for the #115 School Union in the towns of Patten, ME, Sherman Mills, ME, and Stacyville Plantation, ME. Paul was a member of the Boston University SFAA from 1953 to 1954 and music faculty in Weymouth in 1954. He was the director of music for the Weymouth High School Band from 1958 to 1970, the appointed director of music in 1961, and the appointed treasurer of the Southeast District Massachusetts Music Educators Association. He was the Chairman of the SE District MMEA and Host Chairman of High School Concert Festivals from 1965 to 1982. He was on the Executive Board of MMEA 1965-67 and 1988 and President of the NEMFA from 1977 to 1979. Paul was a member of the NEA for 37 years and the Maine Teachers Association for three years. He was on the Massachusetts Teachers’ Association for 34 years. Paul was part of the Music Educators National Conference for forty years and the Massachusetts Music Educators Association for thirty-four years.
When Paul retired in 1988, he still kept music alive in his life by playing with the Massasoit Senior Orchestra in Brockton. He played and paraded with the Roma Band in the North End and in many local parades. He also played with the “Whipple Snappers” at the Whipple Senior Center until he was 94 years old.
Paul is predeceased by his parents, Albert John Warren, and Elizabeth Leone Warren (Wilson) and his brothers J. Wendell Warren and Gordon Warren. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Janet May Warren (Burrell), his children, LeeAnne Sousa of Weymouth, Dayle Milton and her husband Bruce of Pembroke, William Eburn and his wife Linda of South Dennis and Paul Warren and his wife Wanda Jo of Texas. Paul was also survived by seven grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
