Paul Joseph Duseau of Weymouth passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025, at his home in Plymouth with family present. Paul was raised and educated in St. Mark’s Parish, in Dorchester, MA. He attended BC High School. After graduating high school in 1953, he attended Boston College and earned his Mathematics degree in 1957. Paul earned one master’s degree at Wayne State University in Michigan and a second master’s degree at Montclair State University in New Jersey. Paul taught mathematics for 39 years at Weymouth Public Schools until his retirement is 1998.
Paul was an active member of his community. He volunteered with the Weymouth Food pantry for a number of years. When his children were young, he coached basketball and baseball teams. Paul coached the Weymouth High School math team for many years. Paul was active in the Boy Scouts of America. In his youth, he earned his Eagle Scout and was the youngest person in Massachusetts, at the time, to do so. Paul served as the scout leader for pack 9 and troop 9 and led three of his four sons to also become Eagle Scouts. Paul was a man of faith and attended mass at St. Francis Xavier Church for over 50 years. Paul and his wife, Mary, were active members of their parish. They served as Eucharistic ministers, occasional readers, and served on a number of committees.
Paul was an avid Boston sports fan and enthusiastically supported sports at Boston College, where he attended games for many years with his brother, Joe. Paul and Mary enjoyed spending their summers at the White Horse Beach cottage, where Paul spent his final days. Paul’s favorite hobby was tending his yard and gardens. He enjoyed his many beautiful gardens and loved always having something in bloom.
Paul was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Mary Duseau. He is survived by his loving children, Robert Duseau and his wife Marianne of Plymouth, Richard Duseau and his wife Karen of Weymouth, David Duseau of Plymouth, and Paul Jr. Paul cherished his grandchildren Caroline, Robert, William, Charlie, Ariana, Matthew, Elizabeth, Katherine, Emily, Allison and most recent great granddaughter Scarlette. Paul leaves behind his sister Virginia Duseau of Milton and Brother Joseph Duseau and his wife, Janice, of Georgia. He is also remembered by many nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, former colleagues and former students who loved him dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation for Paul on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, from 4-7 pm at the CC Shepherd Funeral Home which is located at 134 Pleasant St Weymouth, MA, in Columbian Square. Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home on Thursday at 10 am for a Celebration of Life, followed by a funeral mass at 11am at Saint Francis Xavier Church in Weymouth, MA.
