Patricia Hackett

South Weymouth

Patricia "Pat" Hackett of South Weymouth, age 96, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024. Pat was born in Boston and raised in Neponset by her parents, Mary C. And Ralph Buckley. Pat graduated from Dorchester and St. Peter and Paul’s High Schools.  She went directly to work at the Bank of Boston. 

Patricia was the adored wife of the late Frederick J. Hackett.  With Fred, they started a loving family with their children Karen and her husband Clinton Smith of Weymouth, Steven Hackett of Weymouth, Patricia and her husband Christopher of Falmouth, Joan and her husband William of Hingham and Paul Hackett and his wife Beth of Abington. While raising her family, she worked alongside her husband Fred, tending the books of their business, Olden’s Pharmacy. 


Pat and Fred had the opportunity to travel world-wide, most often with Ruth and Bud Hackett. Pat learned to play tennis at Stella Tirrell Park with her friend Edna McKinney and it became her “game” along with baking, reading, crosswords, and shopping trips.


Dear sister to Noreen Tilley of Weymouth.  Predeceased by her sisters Ruth Hackett, Marie Dwyer, Joan Salvaggio and brothers Ralph Buckley and Edward Buckley. Also, predeceased by Rosemary (Hackett) Madden Smith (Edward and Edward), Walter (Ruth), Gerald (Margaret), and John (Patricia) Hackett. She is survived by her sister-in-law Margie Buckley (Ralph) and brother-in-law Robert Salvaggio (Joan).  Pat leaves an abundance of loving nieces and nephews and a very special family friend, Peggy Anderson.


Her happiest life moments were spent with her ever-growing family, beginning with her cherished 11 grandchildren: Carolyn Smith and her husband Ben and their children Michael and Matthew, Lauren MacArthur and her husband Michael and their children Henry, Charlie and Miles, Kyle Hackett and his wife Laura and their son Ronan, Kevin Smith and his wife Allison and their children Emma and Andrew, Paul Galligan and his fiancé Marena, Brendan MacArthur and his wife Sanchi and their daughter Sloane, Kenzie Hackett and her husband Ryan and their daughter Evin, Sean Galligan and his wife Madeline, Jillian MacArthur and her fiancé Stefan, Colin Hackett and his wife Samantha and their daughter Remmy and Amy Hackett and her husband Colman.


Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Pat on Sunday, June 16, 2024, from 4-7pm, in the CC Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) South Weymouth. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home Monday morning at 9am for a Celebration of Life prior to the funeral mass at St. Francis Xavier Church in Weymouth at 10am. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Weymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Carroll Center for the Blind, 770 Centre Street, Newton, MA 02458. https://carroll.org/
