Michael Alfred Spooner, age 60, passed away peacefully with his siblings by his side, on July 12, 2023. Michael was born in Weymouth and raised and educated in Danbury, CT, graduating from Danbury High School in 1980. Music was Mike's first passion. After high school he went to The Recording Workshop in Ohio to study music production. He then moved to New York City to pursue a career in the music industry. He worked at CBGB's, met many of his favorite musicians hauling equipment for Studio Instrument Rentals, and first showed his entrepreneurial spirit starting a food cart selling shrimp!
He eventually found his way back to Boston to be closer to family. Mike was a creative soul and spent his life using his artistic talents in all he did. He had an art studio where he loved to paint, mostly in oils, and write and compose music. He worked in the restaurant industry and would share his love of cooking with his family. He loved film and worked on screenplays and even tried his hand at acting and was proud to be an extra in the classic New England film, The Perfect Storm.
Mike was an avid New England sports fan. His love of baseball started when he was just a boy, pitching for his favorite coach, his Dad. He passed on that love of the game to his nieces and nephews in countless wiffleball games in the backyard and going to Sox games at Fenway. He loved listening to sports radio and rarely missed a Bruins or Celtics game. He made a once in a lifetime road trip to Super Bowl XXI with his brother and friends to see his Giants beat Denver.
Most of his favorite times were spent around sports or music with family and friends. He loved picking up his guitar and jamming with anyone who would play with him and was eager to pass on his love of guitar to his nieces and nephews. He will be remembered most for his peaceful, gentle spirit.
Mike will forever be missed by his loving mother, Carol Spooner, and his siblings, Thomas Spooner of Southbury, CT and Kelly Byrne and her husband Matt of Weymouth. Mike was cherished by his nieces and nephews, Abby, Hannah, Melanie, Carolyn, Bobby, Jack, Allyson, Lauren and Sean and his great grand nieces, Brooklynn, Quinn and Andie Mae. He is predeceased by his loving father, Robert Spooner.
