Mary Ellen Fitzgerald

Mary Ellen Fitzgerald (Butler), passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 .A lifelong Weymouth resident, Mary graduated from Archbishop Williams High and Emmanuel College. She received her Master's Degree in education from Boston College and taught at Ralph Talbot Elementary School for many years.

Mary loved children, being so blessed with a large family and many grand and great-grandchildren. With her husband William, Mary enjoyed traveling with friends and spending time on Cape Cod.

Mary was predeceased by her husband William Fitzgerald, her stepson Brian Fitzgerald, and her three brothers Sean, Norman and William Butler. She is survived by her step-children Kathleen Gibbons and her husband Frank of Seekonk, Maureen O'Loughlin and her husband Brian of Weymouth, William Fitzgerald and his wife Lori of Somerville, Michael Fitzgerald of Oregon, and Elizabeth Ferrari and her husband Michael of Mansfield, her 13 grandchildren, and her 11 great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her sisters-in-law Mary, Sheila, and Constance Butler as well as many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the funeral mass for Mary on Monday, September 30, 2024 at 12:30pm at St. Albert the Great Church located at 1140 Washington St. Weymouth, MA 02189. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery, Weymouth.
