Mary A. Connolly (Folan), age 89, of S. Weymouth passed away at home with her loving family on Friday, May 17, 2024.
Mary was born and raised in Trabhain, Lettermore, County Galeway, Ireland and came to the United States in 1956. She met her husband, Andy, in 1961 then were married in 1962. Mary and Andy started a family in South Boston then lived in Dorchester for a few years until settling in Weymouth in 1974 where they have lived since.
Mary worked at Marion Manor in South Boston as a nurse's aide for many years before raising her children. She loved entertaining and will always be remembered for telling great stories and jokes. She also enjoyed cooking, mainly because it helped bring people together. Mary and Andy are lucky enough to have countless fond memories of trips to the Catskills, Bermuda, and Canada.
Mary was predeceased by her parents Martin and Barbara (Farmer) Folan and siblings Padraig Folan, Winne McDonough, Martin Folan, Larry Folan and Nora Casey. She is survived by her loving husband Andrew Connolly of S. Weymouth, her children, Mary Fagan and her husband Dick of Buzzard's Bay, Andy Connolly of Weymouth, Martin Connolly of Weymouth, John Connolly and his late wife Jeanne of Weymouth, and Tina Volkringer and her husband Aaron of Plymouth, her cherished grandchildren Danny, Fallon, Jack, Patrick, Kelsey, Sean, Dillon, and Logan, and her great-grandchildren Ember, Loki, and Aveen.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Mary on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 from 4-7pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq,) S. Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the Funeral Home on Wednesday Morning at 9am for a celebration of life prior to the funeral Mass which will begin at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Church, S. Weymouth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer's research at www.ALZ.org.
