Louis R. Marini, age 96, of Weymouth, passed away at home with his loving family by his side on September 24, 2023. Lou was born, raised and educated in Quincy where he met his wife Irene (Ramponi). Lou and Irene were married in 1956 and then settled in Weymouth to start a family where he has resided ever since.
Lou played football and baseball for Quincy High School where he earned eight letters. In 1990, he was honored into the Quincy High School/North Quincy High School Football Hall of Fame and again in 1994 for the Quincy High School Baseball Hall of Fame. After graduating high school, Lou joined the United States Army. While being stationed in Japan and Hawaii, he played baseball and when he returned home to Quincy, he signed a baseball contract with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
Lou was employed for thirty nine years by the Boston Gear Works in North Quincy. Louis favorite hobbies were football, baseball, basketball and painting, a talent he passed down through generations of artists in the Marini/Martini family. His West Quincy friends nicknamed him "The Legend"
Louis is predeceased by his beloved wife, Irene Marini (Ramponi) and his son Peter Marini. He was the loving father of Rosanne Stearns and her husband Steven, of Weymouth; Janice Rossi, of California; Louis J. Marini and his wife Judy, of Abington; Michael Marini and his wife Talia, of Framingham. Cherished Papa of Daniel, Angela, Sean, Nick, Brandon, Krissy, Ericka, Jessica, Antonio, and Anna. He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Lucas, Sophia and Natalia.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Louis on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 5-7pm in the CC Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.). Relatives and friends will gather Friday morning in the funeral home for a Celebration of Life for Lou at 11am. A funeral Mass will follow at 12pm at the Immaculate Conception Church in Weymouth. Burial will be at Old North Cemetery in Weymouth.
