Kenneth H Laidlaw

Kenneth H. Laidlaw of Norwell passed away peacefully on November 1st, 2024 in Scituate. 

Beloved husband of Mary C. (Lydon) for over 60 loving years. Son of the late Kenneth and Shirley A. Laidlaw (Gold Star Mother). Loving father of Carol A. and husband Tom (Leoffler) of Marshfield, Kenneth W. and wife Melissa of Hanover, Susan M. of Pocasset and Katherine M. (Chesebro) of Marshfield. Devoted grandfather of Sarah, Jacob, Rosalind, Grace and Sean.

Brother of the late Jeanne M. McAuliffe, USMC Cpl. William C. Laidlaw, Laurel M. Shaw, Sandra J. Laidlaw (Infant) and survived by Frederick B. Laidlaw of Cohasset. He leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Ken was a graduate of Weymouth High School Class of 1957. He earned his BSEE at Northeastern University, Class of 1962. He was employed at Electro-Switch in Weymouth for many years and retired in 2007 from Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare in Quincy. 

Ken had many interests and hobbies including sailing, singing karaoke, flying kites and playing board games and cards with family and friends. He belonged to several book clubs and spent much time researching his ancestry. He participated in several charitable organizations along with his wife Mary including sponsoring a young child from Honduras. Ken and Mary loved taking cruises to Aruba and many of the beautiful Caribbean Islands. They enjoyed taking family vacations to Florida, the New England area and spending summers at Mary's parents’ home in Falmouth.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all caregivers and staff of Life Care Center in Scituate for their unwavering care and support to Ken and his family. 

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Kenneth on Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 10-11am at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 11am. Burial will follow. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date.
