Katharine Agnes Maguire

Katharine Agnes Maguire (Mullin), age 93, of Weymouth, passed away on July 14, 2024, surrounded by her family. Katharine was born, raised and educated in Quincy, graduating from North Quincy High School in 1947. After high school, Katharine attended the Radcliffe Women's College. She met the love of her life, Robert in high school, and they married in 1950.  The two settled in Weymouth where they raised their five children.

Katharine enjoyed travelling especially to Oregon to visit family. She and her husband also enjoyed several trips to Europe. Katharine was a remarkable woman and had many accomplishments in her life. She loved children and was a teacher's aide for many years. She went back to school in her sixties and earned her Bachelors in Gerontology at UMass Boston. She became a lobbyist for the Elder Caucus at the Massachusetts State House and traveled to Haiti in her seventies to volunteer at an orphanage there. Katharine's greatest accomplishment in life was her family. She adored her early years of being a stay at home mom and then later in life, a grandma to ten grandchildren and a great grandma to fourteen great grandchildren. She enjoyed babysitting them and being a constant a part of their lives. Family was paramount to Katharine, and her legacy will live on through them.

Katharine is predeceased by her beloved husband Robert Arthur Maguire. She is survived by her loving children, Marianne Wilcox and her husband, Tony, of Corvalis, Oregon, Kathleen Kohler and her husband, Steve, of Raynham, Robert Maguire Jr., of Weymouth, James Maguire, of Plymouth, John Maguire and his wife, Raena, of Duxbury and Christina Maguire of Norwell.  Katharine was also survived by her grandchildren, Robin, Emily, Steven, Nathan, Michael, Amy, Katie, Matt, Reid and Grey. She will be missed by her great grandchildren, Parker, Quinn, Natalie, Charlotte, Neve, Nathan, Anya, Violet, Zeke, Otto, River, Oakley, Audrey and Ella. Katharine was loved by her siblings, Mary, Lillian and Robert.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Mass for Katharine on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 10am, at the Saint Francis Xavier Church, located at 234 Pleasant St. South Weymouth. Burial will be a Lakeview Cemetery in Weymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Homes for Our Troops, using the link provided on this page.
