Joanne Toal Coyle

Joanne Toal Coyle, of Hingham, passed away peacefully after a short illness on June 6, 2022. 

Born in Boston, Joanne was the daughter of James F. and Florence M. Toal.  She was predeceased by her siblings Kathleen M. Cicchese and James F. Toal, Jr.

She is survived by her beloved son, Michael J. Coyle of Hull, and her nieces and nephews William J. Cicchese, III, Janine M. Cicchese, James F. Cicchese, Maureen L. Musseau, James F. Toal, III, Siobhan Williams and Sean Toal.  She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews. 

Joanne was raised and educated in Weymouth, graduating Weymouth High School in 1954.  She then earned her hairdressing license and owned Joanne’s Hairstyling in Columbian Square for many years before eventually becoming a Realtor with Coldwell Banker.  Later in life, she worked for several years at Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham where she enjoyed assisting residents and their family members with her kind words, compassion and sense of humor.  She considered many of the people she met there to be her extended family and cherished those friendships.  After retirement, Joanne still felt a need to stay busy and volunteered at the Cardinal Cushing School Thrift Shop until her health declined.  Joanne truly was a loving and compassionate sister, mother, aunt and friend and she will be dearly missed.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Joanne on Monday, June 12, 2023, from 4 – 7 pm, at the CC Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant St (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth.  Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home for a Celebration of Life Tuesday morning at 8:30am. A Funeral Mass will be held immediately after at St. Francis Xavier Church in South Weymouth at 10 am.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cardinal Cushing School in Hanover.  Internment will be at a later date.
