Janice Felch Nordstrom

July 12, 1946 — January 2, 2024

Hanover

Janice Felch Nordstrom, age 77, of Hanover, passed away on January 2, 2024. Janice lived a full life as a much loved and admired wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to those who knew her.

Janice was born, raised and educated in Presque Isle, Maine graduating from Presque Isle High School in 1964. After high school, she went onto attend Boston University and the Chamberlain School of Retailing in Boston, where she graduated in 1967. She worked at the Jordan Marsh store for a time after finishing college, it was here that she was introduced through a friend and coworker to the love of her life, Bruce, and the two were married on August 12, 1968. They moved to Hanover after getting married and resided there for fifty-six years.

Janice worked for Citizens Bank, formerly Quincy Savings Bank, and retired after thirty years of service. An avid traveler, she enjoyed planning trips, particularly cruises with her husband and friends to Alaska, Europe and the Caribbean, as well as visiting her son while posted overseas with his family. An avid collector of antiques, she preserved her family’s extensive collection, including early pieces from Wedgwood, as well as English and French majolica. As a child, she loved her Madame Alexander dolls, taking care to keep them pristinely boxed for generations to come. A gifted story teller, Janice was always interested in researching and documenting her family history and detailing her experiences growing up in northern Maine.  Her interest in genealogical and family research led her to join the Society of Mayflower Descendants after she discovered her direct lineage to Richard Fuller, one of the original Mayflower Pilgrims. A member of the Old South Union Church in Weymouth, she developed many friendships through the Church’s various small groups.

Those lucky enough to love and share their lives with Janice will never forget her warm, caring, and nurturing personality. Her wit and stoicism in the face of chronic health issues was especially evident during the last years. Janice is survived by her beloved husband, Bruce Nordstrom, of Hanover. She is also survived by her loving son, Eric Nordstrom and his wife, Melissa, of Maryland. Janice was also loved by her grandchildren, Helen, Elliot, Dale and Sally. She will be missed by her great grandchild, Briggs.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a funeral service for Janice on Saturday January 13, 2024, at 1pm, at the Old South Union Congregational Church, located at 25 Columbian St., South Weymouth, MA.
