Jane Charlotte McMullen

Jane Charlotte McMullen (Anderson), age 90, of Weymouth, passed away on September 3, 2023. Jane was born, raised and educated in South Boston. After high school, she worked as a seamstress for several Boston clothing manufacturers making samples for large department stores.  In 1953 she married the love of her life, Leo. Jane and Leo lived in South Boston for a few years until they bought their forever home in South Weymouth in 1957. This is where they raised their loving family. 

Jane was an incredibly talented seamstress making wedding dresses for family members and slipcovers for clients. She taught sewing classes in her home to the neighborhood children and adults for many years. She also enjoyed quilting, cross-stitch and knitting.  Her family always looked forward to her hand knit Christmas Stockings when a new member joined the family or a baby was born. In her younger years you could always find her in her gardens planting the seasons flowers. Her greatest joys were her grandsons and great grandchildren who she watched grow over the years. 

Jane is predeceased by her beloved husband, Leo McMullen. She is survived by her loving children, Joseph  McMullen and his wife, Susan of Rochester and Janice McHugh and her husband, Michael of Rockland. Jane was also loved by her grandchildren, Erik McHugh and his wife, Emily and Sean McHugh and his wife, Rachel. Jane will be missed by her great grandchildren, Lochlan McHugh, Saoirse McHugh and Freya McHugh. She is predeceased by her siblings, Alice Campion, Ruth Armstrong, Henry Anderson, Edward Anderson, Herbert Anderson and George Anderson.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Jane on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 10-11am, in the CC Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant St (Columbian Sq) South Weymouth. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Massachusetts Humane Society. https://masshumane.org/
