James Weydt, age 85, of Weymouth passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024. James was born in Boston then raised and educated in Dorchester. He served in the National Guard and married his beloved wife, Peg, in 1962 and they settled in Weymouth where they raised a family.
Jim was a welder for Corrigan's in Dorchester for many years and was also the co-owner of South Shore Lead Paint Testing and ABT Pest Control. He enjoyed Tennis, Gardening, Umpiring AAA softball, and was a talented painter. He was a member of the Weymouth Braintree Elks and also active in the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife Margaret "Peg" Weydt (Standring) of Weymouth, his loving Children Michael J. Weydt and his wife Tammy of Lakeville, Stephen T. Weydt and his wife Gigi of Middleboro, and Jack W. Weydt of Bridgewater. He is also survived by six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his sister Carol Weese.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visitation for Jim on Monday, July 1, 2024 from 4-8pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home Tuesday morning at 9am for a Celebration of Life prior to the funeral mass which will be at St. Francis Xavier Church on Pleasant St. at 10am. Burial will be at a later date in Mount Hope Cemetery in Weymouth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jim's memory to the American Cancer Society at donate.cancer.org.
