James G McClellan

December 21, 1964 — July 1, 2024

Weymouth, MA

James G. McClellan of Weymouth passed away on Monday, July 1st of 2024. Jim was in his 60th year. He was born and raised in Weymouth where he graduated from Weymouth South High School in 1982. He began work at Dunkin Donuts before his wild days of being a gauger for the oil industry where he earned the name “Hollywood”. He spent years slinging drinks at Chet’s and went on to captain their dart team “The Argos”. Around this time he became known as “The King”. He went on to work as a supervisor at USPS. In 1994, he met his wife to be, Mary “Roberta” Hayes and together they spent many beautiful years of fun and travel.

James could be found playing a round of golf and defeating most at chess. He had a penchant for classic movies (“Jaws” was a particular favourite), gourmet cooking, and was a connoisseur of old time music. He enjoyed attending opening day at Fenway Park and fine cigars. Jim was also a member of the Moose Lodge of Braintree.

James is predeceased by his wife, Mary “Roberta” Hayes and his parents, James E. McClellan Jr. and Janice McClellan (Olinto). He is survived by his loving brother Derek J. McClellan and his wife Marisa P. Wallace of Winthrop. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Joan Stiles, Jane McAuliffe, and Nancy and Mark Brennan. He leaves behind many cousins, Robin Olinto, Betsy Olinto, Jessica LaRue, Peter Brennan, Patrick Brennan, Elizabeth Bierne, Richard Stiles, Brian Stiles, Meghan Casagrande, Patrick McAuliffe, and Michael McAuliffe. Jim also had two very good friends, angels really, in his final years, his neighbor Mike Maling and Rick Ward.

A favourite movie quote of Jim’s:

“Lazlo and Nixon are both gone now. But I don’t think I’m going believe that - until I can gnaw on both of their skulls with my very own teeth. F those people, huh? If they’re out there, I’m gonna find them. And I’m gonna gnaw on their skulls. Because it still hasn’t gotten weird enough for me.”
