James J "Jim" Kilrain died March 28, 2025 unexpectedly but peacefully surrounded by loved ones after a hard fought battle with Parkinson's disease.
He was born October 21,1943 in Boston, MA. The son of Cecil Kilrain and Effie Kilrain of Quincy, MA. He was a graduate of Quincy High School. He married the love of his life Marie (Chella) Kilrain on March 3, 1962 and had 63 wonderful years of marriage.
James worked at the Quincy Shipyard for years before taking a job with the MBTA as an inspector where he worked for 35 years before retiring. He was also a member of numerous hunting clubs and a baseball coach for many years.
James was an avid outdoorsman with an intense passion and love for bird hunting with his dogs, deer hunting and dog training. He bred, raised and trained numerous hunting dogs that received many accolades and awards throughout the years. He was also a baseball coach for his son Jamie and his grandson John's teams where he coached for many years giving his time and effort to the kids on his teams. You could find him most afternoons down the ball park throwing batting practice and hitting ground balls to the kids on his teams. Family, hunting and animals were his passions and he loved nothing more then family dinners and holidays with his loved ones. He was a long standing and active member of Sacred Heart Parish in Weymouth, MA where he volunteered and served as an usher for many years. He continued to donate to the church and various religious organizations during his life.
James is survived by his wife Marie (Chella) Kilrain of Braintree; His three children, son Jamie Kilrain and wife Jackie Kilrain of Quincy; Daughter Jacqueline Kilrain and partner Mitch Nee of Quincy; Daughter Bonnie Kilrain of Braintree; Grandson John Kilrain and wife Kristin Kilrain of Braintree; Grandson Jamie Rodgers of Plymouth; Granddaughter Kelsey Kilrain of Rockland; Granddaughter Samantha Shimkus of Quincy; Also four great grandchildren Peyton, Madison, Odin and Wrenetta.
He is predeceased by his brother John C. "Jack" Kilrain of Quincy, MA.
Friends and Family are respectfully invited to attend a visitation in C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home in South Weymouth, from 9AM-11AM on Friday April 4, 2025. A service will take place in the funeral home at 11AM followed by a burial at Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree.
