James Glendye

James F. Glendye, age 79, of Weymouth passed away with loving family by his side on December 22, 2024.  Born in 1945 to parents Alexander and Doris (Haywood) Glendye, Jim was raised and educated in Weymouth where he graduated in 1964 from the Weymouth Trade School. 

Jim and Marilyn (McCarty) were married  in June of 1965. They lived in Weymouth for a short time on Hollis Street before settling on Pleasant Street which would become the family home that represents so many memories over the years. Jim was a talented carpenter who worked in construction his entire life, eventually becoming a Superintendent with Travi Construction in Norwell for over 40 years. He was a good teacher who enjoyed passing along his know-how to his son, Jimmy, who in turn shared the patriarch’s construction knowledge with his own son, Alex.  The three generations of talent were often put to good use in various house repairs.  Most recently, Jim took pride watching his son and grandson as they did a renovation of his home’s second floor.  Jim was  an avid car enthusiast who enjoyed going to car shows and driving around Weymouth in his cars. Jim was a hard worker who was dedicated to his family. He will be missed by all.

Jim is survived by his loving children, Christine Glendye of E. Bridgewater and James M. Glendye and his wife Doreen of Weymouth, his grandchildren Joshua, Alicia, Jacqueline, Alexander, Philip, and several great grandchildren.

A funeral service for Jim will take place at Old South Union Church located at 25 Columbian St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA at 10am on January 10, 2025.  Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jim’s memory to the Memorial Fund at Old South Union Church.
