James Patrick Cicchese, 79 of Weymouth, passed away on January 29, 2023, surrounded by his family. Jim was a lifelong resident of Weymouth graduating from Weymouth High the class of 1961 and Newbury College, 1976. After college, he proudly served in the United States Army for four years. He worked for Verizon for over 25 years before retiring.
Jim loved his family, community, and country. His dedication to all three was evident throughout his life. Jim was a lifetime member of the Weymouth Braintree Lodge of Elks #2232 and had spent countless hours at the lodge over the years. Whether it was socializing over a Rolling Rock, keeping the building in order, or volunteering to be the Chairperson of the Elks National Foundation for many years helping to raise much-needed funds to do good work all over the Country.
Jim could be seen at various Weymouth landmarks every day. Whether he was taking a walk at Webb Park, socializing at the Elks or Sons of Italy, or enjoying family pizza night at Denly’s Jim always took time to say hello to friends and strangers alike making sure to flash that uplifting smile.
Jim was predeceased by his parents William J. Sr. and Teresa Bridget (Moore) Cicchese and his sister Cathleen Cicchese. He is survived by his wife of 24 years Liz Cicchese (MacDonald), his siblings William J. Cicchese, Jr., (Rita Bryant) and Margaret A. Cicchese, loving Stepfather to Lauren McLelland, proud Papa to Caroline and Camryn McLelland, brother-in-law to Elaine Holmes (Terry), Uncle to William J. Cicchese III, James Cicchese, and Maureen Cicchese, Christopher Holmes, Lindsey Holmes and many other family members and lifelong friends. A huge thank you to all Jim's nurses and aides for their love and dedication to Jim. “You‘re the Best!”
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Jim on Thursday, February 2, 2023 from 4-8 pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 11am Friday morning for a Celebration of Life prior to the funeral mass which will begin at Noon in St. Francis Xavier in S. Weymouth. Cremation will follow. Donations in memory of Jim Cicchese can be sent to Weymouth-Braintree Elks PO Box 125 S. Weymouth MA 02190-0005.
