Gloria Ambler

Gloria Louise (Hanson) Ambler passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Thursday, December 26, 2024. 

Gloria was born to Walter and Ethel Hanson in Stoneham MA on June 11, 1931, where she was raised with her two siblings, Helen and Don. 

Gloria graduated from Stoneham High School where she was a cheerleader for 4 years and then became an Executive Secretary. On Valentine’s Day, 1953, Gloria married Robert Ambler and they settled in Weymouth, where they raised their three children, Debbie, Steve, and Scott. 

In the ensuing years, they made many memories in Weymouth, on Cape Cod and Marco Island FL with their growing family and many friends. They were married for 66 years until Bob’s passing in February, 2019. 

Gloria’s true joy in life was her family and friends. Whether it was entertaining guests at her home, sitting at the beach until sunset or travelling the world, Gloria valued time with her loved ones. She loved to get together with her friends and share her passion for food and was known to travel a distance to find a good lobster roll. 

Gloria was a hot ticket who appreciated a good joke and a wholehearted laugh. Above all, Gloria was exceptionally giving and had a caring soul. Her generosity to others, especially children, was immeasurable. Gloria never showed up to see a loved one without a trinket or small present that reminded her of them. Her acts of kindness no matter how small or large, always made you feel special and remembered. 

Gloria will be lovingly remembered by her children and their spouses: Debbie (Rob) Donaldson of Florida, and Scott (Pam) Ambler of Florida. She will also be deeply missed by her six grandchildren and their spouses: Sarah (Patrick) Mulcahy, Mike (Meliann) Donaldson, Nick (Kerrin) Ambler, Brooke (Chris) Manlisic, Shanna (Bryce) Beavers and Whitney Ambler. Gloria also leaves behind six great grandchildren: Corado, Benjamin, Lucas, Naomi, Reia and Tessa. Sadly, Gloria is predeceased by her son, Steve Ambler, and grandson, Kory Ambler. She will also be fondly missed by Lauren (Paul) Luttrell of Plymouth, Jodi Newell of Keene, NH and many, nieces, nephews and friends. 

In honor Gloria’s personal wishes, a private ceremony will be held with family. Gloria will be interred with her husband, Robert, in Old North Cemetery in Weymouth.
