Frances C. Mielbye

            Frances C. Mielbye, age 83, of S. Weymouth passed away on September 4, 2022. Fran was born in Boston and was raised and educated in Canton where she graduated high school in 1957. She married her husband, Richard, in 1960 and they settled in Weymouth shortly thereafter. 

            Fran worked in various retail settings over the years, her favorite by far being Dairy Queen in E. Weymouth where her customers still ask for her by name, despite her retiring years ago. Fran was a caretaker and she thrived best when she was able spread joy. She could always be counted on for a warm embrace and a delicious home-cooked meal. Her door was always open. She will be remembered through all the fond memories she created with all that she met. She especially valued her time as a member of Old South Union Church where she was an active member of many different groups, volunteered at the food pantry, and baked desserts for after service coffee hour. Later in life Fran cherished her time with her grandchildren whom she loved so much.

            Fran was predeceased by her husband Richard Mielbye. She is survived by her children Richard II and his wife Carol of Florida, David and his wife Susan of Hanover, Jane Fallon and her husband Paul of Hanson, and Laura Muriph and her husband Michael of Pembroke, her grandchildren Richard III, Julie, Sara, Tim, Jessica, Kristi, Cory, Megan, Rachel, and Michelle, eight great-grandchildren, and her sister Josephine Kearney.

            Private services for Fran were held at Old South Union Church in S. Weymouth for family. In remembrance of Fran’s life, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Old South Union Church with Fran Mielbye in the memo line: 25 Columbian St. South Weymouth, MA 02190.
