Esther L Stuart

Esther Lillian Stuart (Griggs) of Bridgewater passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 14, 2022 at the age of 70. Esther was born in Wolfeboro, NH, raised in South Weymouth/East Bridgewater and graduated from East Bridgewater High School in 1971. She married her beloved husband Donald in 1978 and they settled in Bridgewater.

Throughout her high school years, Esther was a candy striper at a local hospital, and she turned her passion for helping others into a 30-year career as a nursing attendant. Her generous spirit was also evidenced by her devotion to helping children with special needs.

Esther was a kind soul and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, including her "children with paws", her beloved cats. She was a curious and enthusiastic traveler, visiting Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, and, with Donny, many parts of the United States.  Some of their travels were to classic car shows, where they enjoyed the community of other slightly obsessed fans. She also enjoyed spending time with her closest friends or relaxing in the tranquility of the home that she and Donny loved so much.

Esther was predeceased by her loving husband, Donald M. Stuart (1943-2000). She is survived by her siblings Sandra Facella of Whitman, Linda Weeks and her husband Bruce of Merrimack, NH, Laurie Griggs of Center Barnstead, NH, and Linda “D-Da” Weymouth of Malden. She is predeceased by her brothers Roy (2018) and Scott Griggs (2003). Everyone who knew her, including her many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews, will miss her love and laughter, her crazy cat stories, and will always remember her eagerness to pitch in to help anyone in need.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Esther in the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant St (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, Ma on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, from 10am to 12pm. A funeral service will take place immediately after visiting hours in the funeral home.
