Ellen K. Ewen

Ellen K. (McGuinness) Ewen of Lyman, NH and Northport, FL formerly of Abington, passed away unexpectedly in her NH home where she enjoyed many years of vacationing with her family on Dodge Pond. Wife of the late Dennis Ewen, she is survived by daughters, Monique Maskell and her husband James, of South Weymouth, Renee Trevains and her husband Jim, of East Bridgewater and Jillian Dow and her husband Greg of Holbrook. Also survived by seven grandchildren, Victoria Maskell, Austin Maskell, Kyra Mathewson, Hayley Ferbert, Alison Ferbert, Brooke Ferbert and Jeremy Trevains and six great grandchildren, Cloe Grugnale, Mila Horton, Alex and Alayah Ferbert, Dean Maskell and Wesley Mathewson as well as her brother Richard McGuinness and his wife Irma of Maine and additionally many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings Joan Sweezey, Jack, George and Thomas McGuinness. 

Ellen is also survived by her partner Dennis Doherty who she has enjoyed living her best life with while going on all her dream vacations including Ireland, Nova Scotia, Niagara Falls, Panama Canal and Western Caribbean Cruises. She always enjoyed the stops along the way while traveling by camper in their snow bird era. She loved her Lazy River family and enjoyed all that the sun had to offer. In her 40 years in Abington she was a youth softball coach, former Grand Marshall and member of the St. Patrick’s Parade committee. She was a member of the Weymouth Braintree Elks 2232 where she was an active on the Veteran’s committee.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Ellen on Monday, September 30, 2024, from4-8pm, at the CC Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) South Weymouth. Relatives and friends will gather the following morning for a Celebration of Life for Ellen in the funeral home at 9am, prior to the Mass at Saint Francis Xavier Church in Weymouth at 10am. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Weymouth.
