Eleanor (Blenis) Pillsbury, of Hingham and Weymouth, passed away March 11th, 2023 at the age of 82. Beloved wife of the late Richard P. Pillsbury, Eleanor was a long-time Weymouth resident, before moving to Linden Ponds in Hingham, where she became very involved in many activities, such as gardening, exercise classes, swim programs, and craft fairs.
She is predeceased by her parents Lida (Thayer) and Calvin Blenis, sister Mabel Mell and her husband Richard, sister Hazel Calway and husband James. Brother Calvin and wife Irene are presently Florida residents. Eleanor worked for over 40 years as a Senior Insurance Analyst in Boston.
After many years of close family ties, Eleanor and Richard married in 1998, beginning many years of extensive, world-wide travel, one of their favorites being winters spent on the island of Grenada.
A very special Aunt to her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, Eleanor made sure she attended all their special events including camping and road trips.
A service will be held for family and close friends to celebrate both Eleanor and her husband Richard’s lives at Old South Union Church Chapel located at 25 Columbian St. Weymouth, MA 02190. The service will be in the smaller Chapel with the entrance being in the parking lot on the left side of the church, as opposed to the main church sanctuary, on May 6th at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow for both Eleanor and her husband Richard’s urns in Mount Hope Cemetery in S. Weymouth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in to the Old South Union Church located at the above address.
