Daniel M. Sullivan, age 82, of Weymouth passed away at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, January 24, 2023. Born in West Roxbury, Dan grew up in Jamaica Plain. He was a graduate of Cathedral High School and Northeastern University. Following ROTC he served as a first Lt. in Korea in 1964 and 1965 and finished his military service in the reserves.
Dan retired after a 29-year career as a bank examiner for the FDIC. In 1994 he was recognized as the top bank examiner in the country after being nominated by his fellow employees. After retirement he volunteered teaching English as a second language in Brockton and for many years at the Weymouth food pantry.
Dan loved reading, listening to music, watching his Boston sports teams, anything animal or nature related and golfing.
Dan lived his life with the philosophy “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. Be Kind.
Dan was predeceased by his parents Daniel J and Josephine (Murray) Sullivan and his sister Madeline Doran. He is survived by his wife Gael (Colman) Sullivan and his daughter, Deirdre Sullivan and her husband Andrew Scolamiero of East Bridgewater. Dan is also survived by his brother in law Henry J. Colman, his sister in law Deirdre C. Valchuis, nieces and nephews; Ellen Booth, Susan Arzillo, Katherine Giovanni, John Colman, Stefan Colman, Robert Valchuis Jr. and their families.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Dan on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 9 am-12 noon in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA 02190. Dan's family would love to see visitors wear his favorite color green in tribute. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dan's name to NVNA and Hospice (Norwell Visiting Nurse Association). A brief Celebration of Life Service with Military Honors will take place immediately following the visitation at Noon. Burial service will be private at a later date at Bourne National Cemetery.
