Charles Faletra

December 28, 1934 — October 25, 2024

Weymouth, MA

Charles A. Faletra passed away on October 25, 2024 at his home in Weymouth. He was eighty-nine years old.

A lifelong resident of East Weymouth, Charlie Faletra was born on December 28, 1934, the son of the late Charles and Maria C. (Picciuto) Faletra. A veteran, he was stationed in post-war Germany from 1954-1956. He was also a star football player, playing (halfback) for the Weymouth High School team, for the U. S. Army team, and for many years in the regional semi-pro league. Always a hard worker, he was employed by General Dynamics and later by the Town of Weymouth. Charlie loved Nantasket Beach, coffee shops, antiques, and flea markets.

Charlie loved his family very much. He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Peggy (Cirigliano); by his daughter Christy of Hull; by his son Michael and his wife Annie of Portand, Oregon; by his sister Rose Henry of Kutztown, Pennsylvania; by his grandsons Sam and Benjamin of Portland; and by several nieces and nephews. He was the beloved brother of the late Anthony R. Faletra of Weymouth and dear friend and brother-in-law of the late Richard Henry of Pennsylvania. Charlie always had a soft spot for children and for the underdog, and he leaves behind many friends and acquaintances who will remember him warmly. He was a long-time member of the Sons of Italy, the VFW, the Upland Sportman’s Club, the Pickwick Club, and others.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Charlie may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, to the South Shore Visiting Nurse Association, or to the South Shore Veteran’s Assistance.

A private service will be held in the near future.
