Charlene E Allen

Charlene E. Allen (Bates), 89, passed away peacefully on August, 16, 2023. Charlene was born, raised and educated in Weymouth, graduating from Weymouth High School in 1951. She married Donald B. Jordan in 1955 and the two settled in Weymouth where they raised their daughter Kimberley.

Charlene worked for many years at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, starting out in Medical Records, and later working as an executive assistant in Human Resources.  After her retirement, she played the keyboard in many local nursing homes and hospitals and was often recognized by local senior centers for her volunteer work.

Charlene was a competitive dance roller skater for much of her life, she even won Nationals in the 1970's. She loved music, was a ballroom dancer and a classically trained pianist.  Charlene was also a compassionate animal lover.  Charlene was devoted to her family.  Her strong spirit and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.  

Charlene is predeceased by her devoted husband, Donald B. Jordan. She is survived by her loving daughter, Kimberley Jordan-Horte and her husband Richard Horte, of Halifax. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Shannon M. Rice and her husband Jason, and her great grandchildren, Katelyn, Ashley, Trevor and Matthew. She was predeceased by her brothers, Alan E. Bates and Gordon A. Bates.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charlene's name to charleysangelspetinitiative.org
