Carlo Anthony Sgroi, age 80, of Islamorada, Florida and Boston, Massachusetts, passed away on August 3, 2024. Carlo was born and raised in Port Chester, New York, a child of Italian immigrants. His mother Mariangela and his father Domenick instilled a sense of family values and the importance of hard work. While in New York, he welcomed his first child, Carlo Jr. He later moved to Boston, where he met the love of his life, Rita. They were married on Cape Cod, a place dear to their hearts. Carlo and Rita raised their two daughters, Domenica “DeeDee” and Tara, in Brookline, where many memories were made.
Carlo had a successful career as a real estate agent in the Back Bay area of Boston. He loved Newbury Street and many other Back Bay landmarks. He loved watching Boston sports teams, especially the Patriots.
Upon retirement, Carlo and Rita spent summers on Cape Cod and winters in Islamorada. There, Carlo was able to enjoy many of his hobbies such as boating, fishing, photography, golf and entertaining his family and friends.
Carlo adored his grandsons Cameron and Conor, who gave him immense joy and always managed to put a smile on his face.
Carlo is survived by his beloved wife, Rita Sgroi. He is also survived by his loving children, Carlo Sgroi Jr. and his wife Amanda, of California, Domenica Sgroi and her husband John Carson, of Weymouth, and Tara Benoit and her husband Robert, of Boston. He was dearly loved by his sister, Nina, and her husband Santo Cacciola, as well as his nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Peter Sgroi. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and colleagues.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation for Carlo on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 4-7pm, in the CC Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) South Weymouth, Ma. A funeral Mass will be held the following morning at the Saint Francis Xavier Church, located at 234 Pleasant St. Weymouth, Ma. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Saint Jude.
