Brenda Tilden Lawson, age 50, a lifelong Weymouth resident, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023. Brenda graduated from Weymouth High School in 1991. She married her husband, Joe, in 2003 and they settled in Weymouth where they have lived since and created many beautiful memories raising their two children.
Brenda was very involved in Katera (Boo) and Joey's sporting events, school activities and was always the Mom with the loudest cheers. Her children describe her as "loving, funny, beautiful, caring and attentive." Being a mother was the most important role in Brenda's life. She adored her children and taught them the importance of respect, kindness, honesty, humility and family.
Her husband Joe says that Brenda was the absolute love of his life. Brenda supported, encouraged and loved Joe in all the ways that he needed and was the pillar of strength that he turned to whenever in need. To Joe, Brenda was everything that he was not and she helped him through some of the most difficult times in his life.
Brenda worked at State Street in Quincy and her co-workers describe her as having a great spirit, work ethic and a personality that will truly be missed. All of Brenda's friendships meant so much to her, whether it was a brand new friend or the friend group that she had since elementary school. She was often the glue that kept everyone together and her friends weren't just friends, to her, they were family. Brenda was an immediate light in every room that she walked into with her big smile and infectious laugh. She extended grace to others, always, and if need be, was willing to give people multiple chances because the relationships in her life were that important to her.
She had so many great weekends down at "Papa's Water House" in Plymouth with her family and many friends, especially the famous 4th of July parties each year. She had fond memories with her family taking trips to Nascar events and the "Dotmar" cottage at Ferrings Pond (Miles Standish).
Brenda had a heart to help and serve others. One of the most important causes she got involved with was the non-profit co-founded by her mother, Jean Tilden, called New Baby Bundles. This program assisted homeless women and their children going through hardships by supplying emotional support, clothing, diapers and other supplies as needed.
Brenda was predeceased by her parents David and Jean Tilden, her parents-in-law Richard and Linda Lawson (Farish), her sister Diane Marie Tilden and her grandmother Dorothy Tilden (Grandma Dot). She is survived by her husband Joseph Lawson, children Katera Lawson and Joseph Lawson Jr. of Weymouth and her siblings, Darlene Tilden and Denise Tilden-Ray. Brenda is also survived by three nieces, many godchildren, and countless friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours for Brenda on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 4-8pm in the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, MA. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:45am Saturday Morning for a funeral service that will begin promptly at 10am. Cremation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, Brenda's family would like to have donations sent to the American Diabetes Association.
