Barbara A. Teich

Barbara A. Teich (Noyes), age 93, of Weymouth passed away on February 14, 2023. Barbara was born in Quincy to the late Roger Capen Noyes and Helen Ellsworth Noyes.
 
Barbara graduated from Braintree High School in 1948 followed by Boston University where she received a bachelor's degree in journalism. While at B.U. She worked for the Patriot Ledger for experience in writing. At age 50, Barbara attended Suffolk University where she received her master's degree. 
 
Later, Barbara became the first activities director for the, what was then Kirkland Manor Nursing Home, in South Weymouth, where she designed their first activities program. Over the years she also did social service work at Queen Ann Nursing Home, in Hingham, Big Brother Assoc., Brockton Dianne Devanna Ctr, in Braintree and South Shore Mental Health, in Quincy. Most recently she was with R.S.V.P. (Retired Senior Volunteer Program), and a reading tutor at Seach School, which was one of her most favorite activities. 
 
Barbara was an avid reader. She also created a craft kit for children called "Kid Kollage", which was featured in the Boston Globe and she also taught herself to play the piano by ear. 
 
Barbara was predeceased by her daughter Jenny A. Teich and her husband Frank S. Teich. She is survived by her son Stephen F. Teich, daugher Lisa A. Irwin, her husband Donald L. Irwin, grandson Alan J. Irwin, his partner Holly M. Driscoll and their son Brady M. Irwin. 
 
Barbara will be cremated and buried with her husband Frank S. Teich in a private ceremony At Lakeview Cemetery in Weymouth. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Weymouth Food Pantry at www.weymouthfoodpantry.org.
