Axel Harry Kleberg, Jr. of Weymouth, MA passed away on February 21, 2025, at the age of 95. Axel, mostly known as Harry, was born on April 21, 1929, in Milton to Axel Harry Kleberg, Sr. and Anna K. Kleberg (Fagerberg), who were from Sweden. He was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Boston English High School.
Harry served in the United States Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948. After this he began working with his father as a carpenter, building homes but also doing skillful finish work. In 1952, he met the love of his life, Marjorie, and they married in 1953, living in Quincy. Harry built two homes in Weymouth for them, the second being where they remained for the balance of their remarkable 71 years of marriage.
Harry was a man of deep faith and dedication. He was a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Weymouth, an active leader of the Christian Service Boys’ Brigade, and a Sunday school teacher. For 19 years, Axel and Marjorie cherished their vacation trailer at the Rumney Bible Conference in Rumney, New Hampshire.
He was a passionate reader of history and other genres. He loved his family and was excited to find fun things to do together, including road trips and annual vacations to Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire.
Harry is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie W. Kleberg; his son, James R. Kleberg (husband of the late Deborah Kleberg) of Hanson, MA; his daughter, Carol D. Roman (formerly Gardikis) and her husband Albert Roman of Holbrook, MA; and his daughter, Barbara A. Nickerson and her husband Mark of Plymouth, MA. He was a proud grandfather to Daniel, David, Matthew, Sarah, Andrew, Benjamin, and Jacob. He loved his great-grandchildren Eleanor, Elijah, Emily, and Hannah.
