Arthur (Art) Lyman, 57 years old, of Braintree, MA passed away on October 13, 2023 after an unexpected illness. Art loved ice hockey including playing in local men’s leagues and watching his beloved Bruins. He played multiple times a week his entire life until his early 50s. He was Captain of the Ice Pack hockey team and an awesome defenseman. He was also dedicated to living a healthy lifestyle and becoming the best person he could be. In addition he loved sunsets, music, traveling and collecting whiskey. He was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and received a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. For 28 years, he worked at Meditech as a Senior Network Engineering Analyst and has many decades-long work friendships.
Art is survived by his mother Marion Lyman of Braintree, MA and his siblings Jack Lyman of Braintree, MA, George Lyman and his wife Cate of Watertown, CT, Melinda Wright and her husband, James of Weymouth, MA, Rich Lyman and his significant other Jeannie Dillon of Quincy, MA, his nieces Claire Lyman, Maya Wright and Jaimelle Wright, his nephew George Lyman Jr as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. He also leaves behind his close friends that were like family - Dan Kerr, Mike, Joanne, Sean and Nikki Kellstrand, and Dick Linehan. He is predeceased by his father John Lyman and his brother Ed Lyman.
Art was a good friend to all who knew him, had a big heart and helped anyone in need. His loss has left a huge void in the lives of his family and friends, especially his nephew and nieces, who he treasured and loved. He was a devoted son to his Mom. He would hike from South Braintree to her home during Nor'easters to clear the snow and check on her. He also took care of her yard, planting hundreds of flowers for her to enjoy each spring.
A memorial service will be held at the South Congregational Church in Braintree on Saturday, October 21st at 11am. Donations can be made to Quincy Animal Shelter in his memory. His family would like to thank all of their friends and family for the outpouring of love and support during this challenging time.
