Anna E. O’Leary (Thurston), aged 92, of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2023. Anna was born, raised, and educated in Weymouth and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1947. She married her beloved husband, Edward O’Leary, in 1954 and the two settled in Weymouth where they raised their beautiful family.
Anna adored her family; she was a loving and attentive mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed spending time with her husband, often taking trips throughout the US and to places like Ireland, Bermuda, and Aruba to name a few. She enjoyed tending to her and Ed’s yard and garden, especially the flowers. Anna was a devout Catholic and a very active parishioner at the Saint Albert the Great Church in Weymouth. She taught CCD for thirty plus years, was one of the founding parishioners and she and Ed were one of the first couples married in the church. Anna was known for creating beautiful rugs. She was a member of the Cranberry Rug Hookers of Cape Cod, often having her rugs displayed at fairs including the Marshfield Fair and winning multiple awards and blue ribbons for her beautifully crafted rugs.
Anna is predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward O’Leary. She is survived by her loving children, Kathleen O’Leary, and her husband Lee Kamentsky of Arlington, Patricia Batte, and her husband George of Norwell, Michael O’Leary, and his wife Suzanne of Weymouth, and Edward O’Leary, and his wife Pamela of Weymouth. Anna is also survived by her loving grandchildren, Steven, Robert, Daniel, Michael, Patrick, Ryan, Kaitlynn, Terrance, Shannon, Maegan, and her great grandchildren, Adeline, Clare, and Cameron.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours for Anna on Wednesday March 1, 2023 from 4-8pm in the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home located at 134 Pleasant St.(Columbian Sq.) Weymouth, Ma. Relatives and friends in the funeral home at 9:30am Thursday morning for a Celebration of Life prior to the Mass which will begin at 10:30am in the Saint Albert the Great Church in Weymouth, Ma. A burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Weymouth.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Norwell Visiting Nurse Association (NVNA) and to Saint Albert the Great Church.
