Weymouth – Carlton E. Brackett age 89, passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Tuesday August 30, 2011 Father of Sheila Brackett Purdy of MI, Jennifer Brackett of FL, and the late Douglas Brackett, Brother of Eleanor Robbins of Rockland, Grandfather of Ingrid Syvertsen Canale , Erik Syvertsen, Kaitlyn Syvertsen, David Williams, Amanda Williams, Jessica Brackett, Emily Brackett and Clayton Wilcox. Great Grandfather of Aiden and Sophia. Carlton was born in Maine and moved to Braintree and then went into the service were he proudly served his country in WW II upon completion of his military service he moved to Quincy and then to Weymouth were he lived the last 49 years. He worked at the Quincy Shipyard as a Sheet metal Worker and had special Military clearance which allowed him to work on special military projects including the USS Long Beach a Guided Missile Carrier upon leaving the shipyard he went to work at New England Tank In Quincy were he worked until his retirement. Carlton was an avid reader enjoying books including Science, Astronomy books and History books. He also enjoyed Photography especially nature photos. He loved his family and especially his grandchildren he even had a play yard at his house including swings, slide and sandbox that even the neighborhood children enjoyed. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday September 3, at 1 P.M. at the C.C. Shepherd Funeral Home 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth relatives and friends invited. Memorial Donations may be made to the Massachusetts Humane Society, 87 Wharf St. E. Weymouth, MA 02189.
