Catherine (Soraghan) Murphy, July 31, 2011, at age 64, in Las Vegas, NV, after a brief illness. Formerly of Braintree & Sherborn, MA; Lancaster, CA; Odessa, TX. Survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, Ronald Murphy of Henderson, NV. Cherished mother of Leigh-Anne Clarke & her husband David of Groton, MA; Stephen & Rejane Murphy of Everett, MA. Devoted grandmother of Mason & Jack Clarke. Sister of Edna S. & William English of Hingham; John (Jack) E. & Anne Soraghan, of Dover; Alice S. & Robert Poirier of Hudson, MA, and Sister-in-Law of Joan M. Gudas of Norwood, MA.
Cathy Murphy attended Braintree Public Schools and graduated from Quincy College with an Associate Degree in Medical Records technology. She traveled widely in the U.S. with her husband, and enjoyed teaching in New Jersey and Massachusetts schools. While she devoted her efforts first and always to her family, she will be remembered by all for her warm smile, contagious laugh, boundless energy, compassion, great strength of will, and her love of animals. Her sense of humor was keen, and she enjoyed entertaining at family gatherings. As her husband’s professional demands took them to several locations in the West, she became expert at home renovation, landscaping, and an amateur photographer.
Friends are invited to the Visiting Hours on Monday, August 8 from 3-5pm and 6-8pm at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth and the Memorial Service on Tuesday, August 9 at 11 AM at the Funeral Home. Following the Memorial Service all are invited back to the Abington Ale House to celebrate Cathy’s Life. Interment will be private.
