Dorothea M. Scott

Dorothea M. (Kingsland) Scott, age 95, passed away at her home peacefully on Sunday, July 3, 2011. Dot was the loving wife for 40 years of the late Herbert E. Scott and is survived by several nieces, nephews, along with wonderful friends and caregivers. Dorothea was a resident of Weymouth since 1941, previously from Hingham. She was employed by the South Weymouth Savings Bank for 32 years. She was the second woman to be elected as an officer of the bank. Dot served as the first manager of the Poole’s Corner Branch of the bank serving as the Assistant Treasurer and then the Assistant Vice President. Dot was the former president of the Savings Bank Women of MA and Chairman of Savings Bank Forum of MA.
A memorial service will be held at the Old South Union Congregational Church, 25 Columbian St. S. Weymouth on Friday July 8 at 11 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dot’s memory to the Old South Union Congregational Church, 25 Columbian St. S. Weymouth, MA 02190 or to the South Shore Hospital Foundation, 55 Fogg Rd.
