Joseph G. Murphy

Joseph “Jerry” Murphy, age 94, passed away at the South Shore Hospital on Wednesday, June 29, 2011. Jerry was the husband for 51 years of Katherine (Picillo) Murphy and is survived by his 2 children, Michael Murphy and Michelle Murphy both of Hull and his 3 grandchildren Corey, Kelsey and Alex Murphy all of Hull. He is predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (Behan) Murphy. Joseph was born in Newton, grew up in Winthrop, lived in Florida for 15 years, North Carolina for 5 years, Boston for 6 years and Hull for 20 years before moving to Weymouth 20 years ago. He was the Captain of the Lil Showboat in Morehead City, NC, a Professional Photographer for Purdy Co. and Vantine Co. for 20 years before becoming a Sales Clerk for Stride Rite Bootery in the South Shore Plaza in Braintree for 25 years. Gerry was a member of the Lions Club in Hull.
Visiting Hours will be at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth on Sunday, July 10 from 2 to 4 P.M. immediately followed by a Memorial Service at the Funeral Home at 4 P.M.
