Maureen Theresa (Kirby) Tippett, of Weymouth passed away on June 4, 2011. Maureen was the daughter of the late Mary (Griffin) and Edward Kirby of Dorchester and Weymouth. She was the beloved wife of Eugene (Bill) Tippett, "thank you for loving me", also of Weymouth. Maureen is survived by her daughter and her husband Susan & Richard Martin, a son Robert Hennelly and his wife Regina, all from Weymouth. Maureen was blessed with 6 grandchildren. Maureen came from a large family enjoying 5 sisters and a brother, Ellen & Frank Drogo of Braintree, Edwina Kirby of Newport Ritchey, FL, Edward & Beverly Kirby of Melrose, Ann & Vic Shannon of Rockland, Joan Kirby of Braintree and Kate & Jim Daly of Dartmouth and many nieces and nephews. Maureen also leaves her beloved dearest friend of 70 years, Gail Palmer of Taunton. Maureen moved to Weymouth a few years ago after retiring from Del Webb Corporation in Arizona to be closer to her family. She worked as a Vacation Specialist for 22 years and enjoyed family and friends visiting her often as well as spending most summer’s home in Massachusetts. After being raised in Dorchester, Maureen moved to Quincy where she raised her family and worked as a Telephone Operator for 11 years at Quincy Hospital. Family and friends meant everything to Maureen and she will truly be remembered for her sparkling personality and kind heart.
Private Visiting Hours will be held on Friday, June 10 from 5 to 8 P.M. at the C. C. Shepherd Funeral Home, 134 Pleasant St. (Columbian Sq.) S. Weymouth. A Private Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, June 11 at 10:30 followed by the Interment held at the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Randolph. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Angels Memorial Animal Rescue, 350 South Huntington Ave. Boston, MA 02130.
