Douglas Alan Heyl, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the age of 57. Doug was raised and educated in Weymouth where he was a lifelong resident. Doug worked for the US Postal service for 26 years. A loving husband and father, Doug is survived by his wife Katie and son Derek. The beloved son of the late Frederick C. Heyl and Marion L. Heyl, he was the loving brother of F. Christopher Heyl III of NH, Susan Osgood of VT, Carol Trudelle of VT, David Heyl of NH and Nancy Polito of NH; as well as a devoted brother-in-law to John Lyons, Marion O’Handley, Billy Lyons, Midge Marinelli, Bobby Lyons, Barbara Boretti, Claire DeBerardinis, Pat Morrissey, Joanne MacNeil, Jim Lyons and Jeannie Dunn. Doug is also survived by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Doug will be held on Saturday, May 28th at 10:00 at the Old South Union Church 25 Columbian St, South Weymouth, MA. A celebration of Doug’s life will be held immediately following the memorial service. Donations in Doug’s memory may be made to the Walk for Autism Speaks and forwarded to 15 Wycliffe St, Weymouth, MA 02189.
