Katherine Wainwright Raymond

Katherine Wainwright Raymond, a retired Weymouth school teacher passed away April 29th, 2011 in Hingham, MA in the presence of family members. At her request private services are planned. Born and raised in Wilson, North Carolina, Mrs. Raymond was the wife of the late Herbert W. Raymond, and daughter of the late Kate Wortham Wainwright and George Thomas Cooke Wainwright. Other than a 10-year period in Lake Park, FL, she lived in South Weymouth, and had maintained a home in Port St. Lucie, FL.
A graduate of Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College) in Wilson, NC, Mrs. Raymond taught 6th grade at Alice E. Fulton Elementary School in Weymouth, MA from 1966-1980. She previously taught in Rock Ridge, NC, and Lake Park, FL. Mrs. Raymond enjoyed family and friends, was especially fond of her southern heritage, and proud of her hometown of Wilson, NC. She communicated with childhood friends on a regular basis.
A talented maker of afghans, she made several for family, friends, neighbors and caregivers. She leaves her children: Dalen W. Raymond, of Benbrook, TX, George H. Raymond and his wife, Carol of Weymouth, MA; Charles (“Chuck”) Raymond and his wife, Kathleen of Weymouth, MA; grandchildren Thomas (“Seth”) Raymond of Albuquerque, NM, George H. Raymond, Michael J. Raymond, Christopher C. Raymond, and Kristen M. Raymond of Weymouth, MA; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is the sister of the late Mary Van Dalen Wainwright of Wilson, NC; Ann Wainwright Warren of Easley, SC; and George Cooke Wainwright of Wilson, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mrs. Raymond’s memory to the Weymouth Rotary Foundation, Inc., PO Box 52, Weymouth, MA 02190 – providing scholarships to Weymouth high school graduates, or Joslin Diabetes Center, One Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02215 – providing care and research for diabetes.
